But really, when it comes to pervasive, omnipresent guitar sounds of the last two decades, it isn’t Hendrix, it’s probably that tremulous, shimmery, reverb-y, sonic cathedral-y wash of sound as invented by … who? Kevin Shields? Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins? John McGeoch of the Banshees? Whoever it was, it is they who are the most influential rock guitarist of our, if not all, time.
